Your Maui Escape Awaits

book now

This isn’t a resort — it’s our home away from home, and we hope it becomes yours as well. Everything here was chosen to bring the easygoing, culturally rich vibe of Maui right into your stay. The condo is managed professionally, but kept warm, personal, and full of aloha.

We're Trish and Terry — two longtime Hawaii-lovers  who fell head over heels for this condo in Kihei over 21 years ago. When we first walked in and saw that vibrant ocean view through the sliding glass doors, we were sold. We named this place Silk House as a nod to our home on Windsor’s Silk Road — where East meets West, and everyday cares melt away.

Maui Silk House Highlights

explore maui

Maui is full of unforgettable places to explore, from the Road to Hana and Iʻao Valley to the towns of Paia and Makawao. Some local favorites include Haleakalā, the Sacred Garden of Maliko, Bailey House Museum, and Surfing Goat Dairy. Maui County includes several islands, and day trips to nearby Lanaʻi and Molokaʻi are also possible.

You’ll find guidebooks in the condo to help you plan. When exploring, please respect local land and culture—if you see a sign that says Kapu, it means “forbidden” or “no trespassing,” and you should turn around.

Hawaiian place names can be tricky at first. Every vowel is pronounced, and W often sounds like a V. A dictionary and a guide to local “Pidgin” are available in the condo if you’re curious.

Four helpful words to know:
  • Aloha – hello, goodbye, love
  • Kapu – forbidden
  • Makai – toward the ocean
  • Mauka – toward the mountains

Local directions often use makai and mauka instead of north, south, east or west. Our condo at Maui Kamaole Resort is on the mauka side of South Kihei Road—look toward the hills for the entrance.

Beachtime

Whether it’s lounging in the sand, playing in the water, or taking a long stroll along this mile-long stretch of beach, Keawakapu Beach is a local favorite and only a short walk from our condo at Maui Kamaole. There’s also nearby public parking that provides convenient beach access. Stroll further south along the beach, past the outcropping, and you’re connected to other beaches along the Wailea coastline via public walkways and parks. One of our favorite things to do each morning is to walk from the condo, down to Keawakapu all the way to the Wailea Marriott where you can grab a Starbucks!

Food & Drink

There are plenty of good choices in the Kiehi area when it comes to food and drink. If you’re seeking a tropical twist on the classic rum Mai Tai, check out Monkeypod Kitchen, where the mai tai’s come topped with lilikoi foam. Overall, delicious food and drink, with a vibrant atmosphere and live entertainment most evenings. Most restaurants in the Kihei area are inland, away from the ocean. One notable exception is Fred’s Mexican Cafe, which sports a fantastic view of the sunset over the ocean near Kamaole Beach II. The food and drink at Fred’s is pretty good and the view is great so you won’t be disappointed. One of our favorite places for breakfast or lunch is Nalu’s South Shore Grill (they also serve dinner). It’s located in the Azeka shopping center. Fantastic food and drink… if you like a little spice with your cocktail, you have to try their almost world-famous Kim Chi Bloody Mary!  For the best Fish Tacos, try Coconut’s Fish Cafe… they have two locations in Kihei to choose from. We love their fish tacos… two semi-soft corn shell tacos adorned with grilled fresh fish, mango salsa and a house-made coconut milk coleslaw; Yum!!!

Ocean fun

There’s always plenty of ocean fun. Nearby (both in Wailea and in Kihei Town), you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards and snorkel gear. There are lots of choices when it comes to whale watching (typically late November thru early March), but our favorite is the Pacific Whale Foundation. They have daily whale or dolphin tours out of Ma’alaea Harbor, just a few miles from the north end of Kihei. The Harbor also features the Maui Ocean Center….a terrific aquarium that will enchant the whole family. If you’re into deep sea fishing, private fishing boats launch daily from the South Kihei Boat Ramp, which is just across the road from our condo. Maui offers some of the best ocean adventures in the world.

Here are some of our personal favorite places to go when we're in Kihei — the spots that make this part of Maui special. We hope you'll explore them, too.

Guest Love

Comfortable Paradise

"We couldn't have asked for better accommodations while vacationing in Maui for my husband's 50th birthday. The condo was super clean and beautifully decorated. The king size bed was super comfortable. But what we loved most was having our morning coffee on the lanai overlooking the ocean and watching the gorgeous sunsets at night with a glass of wine. We felt so spoiled. We can't wait to come back for another stay."

-Sarah B., January 2025

"We cannot say enough about our stay here! Probably the prettiest view ever if you like sunsets. From accommodations, to accommodating, to welcoming, to cleanliness, we loved it and appreciated all!"

-Radine K., May 2025

That View!

"We checked into the condo and it was represented even better than the pictures. Everything we needed was there. The linens on the bed were high quality as well as towels. The welcome basket was over the top! I will definitely rent again."

-Patricia B., September 2025

Where to find Maui Silk House

Maui Silk House is tucked into the quiet, charming Maui Kamaole complex, just off 2777 S Kikei Road in South Kihei. While you're staying with us, you're within walking distance of some of Maui's most beloved beaches — Keawakapu and Kamaole III — and only a short drive from the upscale fun of Wailea.

This isn’t a high-rise resort — it’s a relaxed, community-based condo set in lush grounds with two pools, tennis courts, and a welcoming front desk. It’s the ideal base for couples or families (especially with older kids) who want to soak in real Hawaiian culture, not just the tourist gloss.
